Spiritual Life & Growth

e.g. increased patience, overcoming sin, reconciliation with a friend, etc.

Church Involvement

Here are the core values expected of everyone in Men's ID:

I commit to attending every meeting/gathering, to be there on time, and where applicable, I will have my preparation work done. (coursework varies between 15-45min per day) No exceptions, unless providentially hindered. I understand and agree that I will have to say "no" to important things in order to meet this commitment, and I am willing to do so. (Hebrews 10:23-24)

I will 'finish the course' and stay with the group. I understand that my leader and the group will make a significant investment in me. Because it would be unfair and disrespectful to them to do otherwise, I commit to the entire time we agreed upon and I will finish well. (Ecclesiastes 7:8, Galatians 6:9, 2 Timothy 4:10)

I commit to cultivating healthy relationships with my group both inside and outside of the group meetings. (Acts 2:42-47, Colossians 3:12-15)

I commit to working to grow personally in my walk with the Lord & to encourage people in my group to grow in their faith. (Colossians 3:16-17, 1 Thessalonians 4:1)

I commit to being open to examine myself (my personality, my past, my habits, the way I treat people, etc.) and to take direct, unfiltered feedback. I will do everything in my power to receive it in love and be transformed by it. I will avoid defensiveness, realizing that when I defend myself, I forfeit the opportunity to grow. By God’s grace and with the help of my brothers, I long to be more like Jesus. (Proverbs 27:6)

I commit to upholding a safe environment in meetings that encourage openness, transparency, confession of sin and struggles, prayer and accountability. I will not share with others what is said confidentially in the group without permission (even with my spouse) (James 5:16, 1 John 1:5-10)

I commit to seeking to deal with conflicts in the group biblically and with appropriate confidentiality. (Matthew 18:15-20, Ephesians 4:2-3, Philippians 2:1-4, 1 Thessalonians 5:14)

I commit to respect people in my group and avoid words or statements that would intentionally embarrass other members of the group. (Ephesians 4:29)

I understand that my group leader & fellow members are part of my accountability. I can commit to pray for them and to communicate with my leader if I am struggling in a particular area. (Hebrews 13:17-18)

I further commit that, at some point afterward, as God leads, I will start a group like this one, myself, to help others in being disciples of Jesus. (Matthew 28:19-20)

(this covers the cost of class materials & group events)
